Sasquatch & the Shetland Adventures Down Under: A New Chapter Begins

Some journeys mark a milestone. Others are the beginning of something bigger than we can even imagine. This one? It’s both.

In less than a month, Sonja and I will be heading to New Zealand’s South Island, where we’ll be stepping into the legendary waters of Owen River Lodge with some of the best in the game - April Vokey and Jen Ripple. This trip isn’t just another adventure for us; it’s the next chapter in what we’re building with Sasquatch & the Shetland. It’s about pushing our limits, refining our craft, and laying the foundation for something far beyond this journey.

For Sonja, this is her first international fly fishing trip - a fitting initiation into the world of wild rivers, unpredictable weather, and fish that demand your absolute best. For me, it’s a return to one of the most technical trout fisheries on the planet, where precision and patience are rewarded with trophy brown trout in some of the most breathtaking landscapes on Earth.
